LoneStar Radiation Oncology Introduces Trophy Club’s Newest Outpatient Cancer Center

Dallas / Fort Worth, TEXAS – Cancer patients throughout Trophy Club and the surrounding area can now benefit from several state-of-the-art radiation treatments brought together under one roof in a convenient outpatient setting.

LoneStar Radiation Oncology began accepting patients on November 3rd. The 7100 square-foot facility is conveniently located at 2800 East State Highway 114, Suite 100, in the Baylor Medical Center at Trophy Club. Led by Charles (Chuck) Matthews, MD, MBA, Radiation Oncologist, its dedicated staff includes experienced dosimetrists, nurses, radiation therapists and other accredited health care professionals, who supports patients and their families throughout the entire treatment process.

“At LoneStar Radiation Oncology we are committed to bringing the most advanced treatment technologies to our community,” said Curt Gomm facility administrator. “We are proud to provide our patients with high-quality clinical care in a comfortable, inviting facility.”

LoneStar Radiation Oncology offers a variety of technologies that deliver precise, effective treatment for a broad array of cancers:

  • TrueBeam is the newest and most advanced linear accelerator model from Varian Medical Systems, the global leader in radiation therapy technology. For patients, this means treatments for a wider variety and more complex cancers, shorter treatment times and more effective treatment.
  • Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) harnesses powerful computer technology to precisely focus radiation beams on tumors, with less damage to surrounding, healthy tissue.
  • Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) pinpoints radiation delivery. Patients undergo scans prior to each treatment session to fine tune radiation beams and adjust for tumor changes or movement, which is especially important when treating tumors located near sensitive tissue or critical organs.
  • Electron Beam Radiation Therapy targets skin cancer cells on the body’s surface with tiny electrically charged particles, delivering higher radiation doses with less risk to surrounding, healthy tissue.

Compared to traditional external-beam radiation therapies, the technologies offered at LoneStar Radiation Oncology deliver radiation more accurately at higher doses, meaning potentially faster and more effective treatment and the ability to treat a wider variety of tumors. Referring physicians can select the most effective radiation treatments for their patients with colorectal, prostate, breast, ovarian, bone, head and neck, brain and central nervous system cancers.

“I take pleasure in walking with every one of my patients in this most trying time in their lives, empowering them to understand their illness and make unbiased, proper decisions about treatment. I take that seriously, and take pride making sure that the information and care we provide is backed by evidence and meets the very highest national medical standard.” Said Dr. Matthews.

LoneStar Radiation Oncology is a Vicura facility, with administrative and management resources provided by SightLine Health.
